Real practices by student from SPH at Health Center in Takeo Province

A group of students from School of Public Health (SPH) leaded by Dr. Heng sopheab, Deputy Director of NIPH and Head of Academic Affairs at SPH and Dr. Chhea Chorvann, Director of NIPH conduced a fieldwork at Takeo province from 10 to 12 August, 2018. These activities are part of student’s real practices and contribute to making better health system in Cambodia. Through out these three day, students are divided in two groups: a health promotion team and rapid survey team.

The first activity of health promotion that done by a group of students who need to do real practice as part of the study program. During their works, student has explored factors associated with the selected behavior of related health issues (Diabetes and Hypertension) to identify key issues for program interventions. After this, all students and related health center staffs are co-working together to apply health promotion theories and concepts under the supervision by Dr. Sin Sovann.

Rapid Survey which conducted by another team is also a part of student’s practices to improve their survey skills. The main objectives of this survey are to:

  • Study Knowledge, Attitude, and Practice of Caregiver and Mother on Complementary Feeding among Children 6-59 months
  • Assesses client's Satisfaction and observe service of in outpatient department at SOAM Health Center
  • Evaluation of Hygiene and Sanitation in TA O Health Center

School of Public Health regularly took student to do fieldworks in order to make students face and challenge with real practices and situation. SHP hopes this method will improve student capacity in their future work after graduated.
