Prof. Saphonn Vonthanak M.D., MSc, PhD
Prof. Saphonn Vonthanak is currently the Rector of the University of Health Science (UHS). He is also the founder and professor of the School of Public Health at the National Institute of Public Health since 2007. His background was a Medical Doctor, graduated in 1995 from the Faculty of Medicine, the University of Health Sciences in Cambodia. In 2000, he got his Master of Science Degree in Epidemiology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. Then, he got his Ph.D. in Epidemiology in 2003 from UCLA. He has been a lot of experience with national scale surveys (National HIV sentinel surveillance survey, the National Behavioral Surveillance Survey, and Cambodian Demographic Health Survey) and strong research experiences. He participated in several pieces of training and had many other professional experiences. He has got many awards and honors from national and international bodies. He has published and reviewed many articles in international journals. He is now lecturing the course of Basic Epidemiology.
